Bratislava, 4. augusta 2022 Britský veľvyslanec na Slovensku a čestný prezident Britskej obchodnej komory v Slovenskej republike, pán Nigel Baker, včera dopoludnia na Hviezdoslavovom námestí v Bratislave otvoril výstavu fotografií kráľovnej Alžbety II. pod názvom „70 ROKOV SLUŽBY”. Spolu s ním sa otvorenia zúčastnila aj starostka Starého Mesta, pani Zuzana Aufrichtová, zástupcovia firiem, vďaka ktorým sa výstava realizuje a viacerí hostia z verejného života a médií. Výstava je kolekciou archívnych fotografií zo štátnej návštevy kráľovnej Alžbety a princa Philipa na Slovensku. V roku 2008 navštívili Bratislavu a Vysoké Tatry. Niektoré z vystavených fotografií neboli doteraz verejnosti dostupné. Dokumentujú rôzne časti programu kráľovského páru a poskytujú spätný pohľad na jednu z najvýznamnejších návštev v histórii samostatného Slovenska. Rovnako sú dôkazom toho, že osobnosť Alžbety II. presahuje hranice Spojeného kráľovstva. Výstavu si obyvatelia aj návštevníci Bratislavy môžu pozrieť až do 21. augusta 2022. Veľvyslanec Nigel Baker na otvorení vysvetlil, prečo sa Britská ambasáda rozhodla usporiadať výstavu práve v tomto roku: „Nuž preto, že Jej Veličenstvo oslavuje tento rok 70 rokov od jej nástupu na trón. Kráľovná panuje dlhšie než ktorýkoľvek iný monarcha v histórii, ale ešte dôležitejšie je to, že jej vládnutie charakterizuje mimoriadna oddanosť a zmysel pre povinnosť. Za tých 70 rokov sa ukázalo, že jej záujem o ľudí je úprimný. Bol to práve jej srdečný záujem a osobný prístup, ktorý bol zjavný aj počas návštevy Slovenska. Kráľovná nikdy nezabudla na najkrajší kút v šírom svete, dodal. Kráľovná Alžbeta II. je prvou spomedzi britských monarchov, ktorá oslavuje platinové jubileum, teda 70-ročnú službu ľudu Spojeného kráľovstva a krajín spoločenstva národov Commonwealthu. Realizáciu výstavy fotografií podporili členovia Britskej obchodnej komory v Slovenskej republike Jaguar Land Rover, Tesco, British International School, Squire Patton Boggs, Allen & Overy, BAE Systems, a tiež spoločnosti Kúpele Piešťany, Inobat Auto a Astra Zeneca. Bratislava, August 4, 2022 The British Ambassador to Slovakia and Honorary President of the British Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic, Mr. Nigel Baker, opened an photo exhibition of The Queen Elizabeth II yesterday morning at Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava. The exhibition carries the title 70 YEARS OF SERVICE. Together with him, the mayor of Bratislava´s Staré Mesto District, Mrs. Zuzana Aufrichtová, representatives of the companies that make the exhibition possible and several guests from public life and the media attended the opening. The exhibition is a collection of archive photos from the state visit of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to Slovakia. In 2008, they visited Bratislava and the High Tatras. Some of the exhibited photos have not been available to the public until now. They document various parts of the royal couples program and provide a retrospective view of one of the most significant visits in the history of independent Slovakia. They are also proof that the personality of Elizabeth II goes beyond the borders of the United Kingdom. Residents and visitors to Bratislava can view the exhibition until August 21, 2022. At the opening, Ambassador Nigel Baker explained why the British Embassy in Bratislava came up with the idea to open the exhibition this year: Well, because Her Majesty is celebrating 70 years since her accession to the throne this year. The Queen has reigned longer than any other monarch in history, but more importantly, her reign has been marked by extraordinary devotion and a sense of duty. During those 70 years, it became clear that her interest in people is sincere. It was her heartfelt interest and personal approach that was also evident during her visit to Slovakia. The Queen never forgot the most beautiful place in the wide world, he added. Queen Elizabeth II is the first British monarch to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee: 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations.
