What is an LL.M. and what can I use it for?

In the Czech Republic, it is customary to use the title Ing. or Mgr. However, there are also other types of titles. LL.M. is becoming more and more common. What is an LL.M.? This degree originated in the Anglo-Saxon world and is classified as a Master's degree. It is equivalent in level to the engineer and master's degrees just mentioned. It is listed after the name and in the Czech Republic it is included among non-academic degrees. Although this title corresponds to the master's degree, it is not recognised or nostrified in the domestic education system. It therefore belongs primarily to the spectrum of professional education. However, the domestic Ministry of Education supports the acquisition of these degrees. This is because they help to improve the employability of candidates, not only at home but also abroad. Where and how are they obtained? The degree is an abbreviation of the English phrase Master of Laws. The Latin Legum Magister is also used as an explanatory note. It is therefore focused on the field of law. The LL.M. degree opens doors in careers not only for lawyers It is primarily intended for individuals with a law degree or those who have already completed a non-law degree but have practiced law. It is thus usable for lawyers, attorneys and clerks with a legal practice, as well as paralegals or notaries.
