The fourth year of the SLOVAK OPEN tournament, which will take place as part of the Skalica Chess Festival, will be under the auspices of the International Chess Federation. FIDE has supported 25 tournaments in Europe and from Slovakia it is FIDE SLOVAK OPEN. The Skalica Chess Club, in cooperation with FIDE, is organizing on 20.08. 28.08.2022 in the hotel Svätá Ľudmila in Skalica international chess tournament FIDE SLOVAK OPEN. This is the strongest tournament in Slovakia. Last year, 155 players from 19 countries took part. Even stronger participation is expected this year. When we started this tournament 4 years ago, we had the ambition to become the strongest tournament in our country. We have been doing this for a few years now. With its cast and importance, we are not only among the Slovak but also European leaders. With the support of FIDE, we are now proud to be among the world, says tournament director Milan Roman. It will be played by the Swiss system for 9 rounds, the tempo is 90 minutes for 40 moves and 30 minutes until the end of the game, with a bonus of 30 seconds for each move. The results of the tournament will be sent against the credit of the FIDE rating and the obtained standards. The tournament is intended for players with ELO 1900 and more. Individual exceptions are possible in agreement with the organizer. The event will also include the accompanying Schaefller Cup tournament, which is intended for players with a rating of up to 1900 ELO. In addition, the Slovak OPEN blitz and Slovak OPEN Rapid blitz tournaments are also ready.
